BLOOD OF THE EARTH
Brazil’s development generates conflict. Ecosystems disappear, natural resources are depleted, communities are displaced, ways of life are lost forever, people are murdered. Violence.
Large-scale infrastructure projects, mining, and agribusiness now face limits to their expansion. The territories chosen to be sacrificed in the name of development are being defended by the communities that have historically occupied these regions.
The series traveled to the most tense regions where these clashes are taking place. In each episode, we dive into an environmental conflict through the perspective of the people involved. We document these environmental conflicts and their consequences for both the communities and the ecosystems around them, offering a cinematic reflection on this specific moment in Brazilian history, in which the land bleeds under the abuses of unchecked development.
