Among our productions, we would like to highlight the docu-reality series “For a Breath” (Globoplay), the fiction series “Summer Heat” (Netflix), and the documentary series “Transamazônica - A Road to the Past” (HBO), which awarded the 2022 Brazilian Cinema Grand Prix for Best Documentary Series. João Roni, CEO at Marea Cine, was also the Executive Producer of the feature film "My Penguin Friend", starring Jean Reno, released in 2024.
Our most recent films are the documentary “Amazon, the New Minamata?", screened at COP-30 and the UN Water Conference; the documentary "At This Moment, in the Nation's Sky", screened at film festivals such as Málaga, Biarritz, Jeonju, and IDFA; and the feature film "Man of Gold", directed by Mauro Lima — all released in 2025.

Marea Cine was born as a development hub of Ocean Films, a production company with over 25 years of experience and a solid track record of expansion in both national and international markets. Marea is dedicated to the creation and production of audiovisual content, combining creative excellence, market intelligence, and the ability to develop relevant, impactful projects in both documentary and fiction. Our focus is on reaching a global audience by exploring different business models and strategic partnerships that enhance the artistic performance of our works and ensure a standard of production quality that meets the demands of the players we work with.
Marea Cine’s development team is currently working on projects such as: “Natureza da Cor”, a series directed by Walter Carvalho and currently in negotiations with Globoplay; the documentary telefilm “Cartas do Iraque”, the only Brazilian project selected for Sunny Side of the Doc in 2024; the fiction feature film “Araucária Nightmare”, in co-production with Kenya Filmes; “A Verdadeira História de Pedro” and “Os Salva Selva”, both selected for Serial Bridges Rio de Janeiro; and “Lote 55 – Dorothy Stang: Marcada para Morrer”, selected for Series Makers.
In 2026, the series “Meninos Bons de Bola” (TV Cultura) — about Brazil’s first transgender football team — and “Revisitando Versos” (GNT and Canal Brasil) — featuring Luisa Sonza, Mart’nália, Lauana Prado, Gaby Amarantos, and other major names in Brazilian music — will premiere.
